Capitol Garage is an independently owned restaurant and bar located in the capital district in the heart of downtown Sacramento. With its root's rich in punk rock, Capitol Garage was a thriving venue for local artists in the early 90's, that served coffee and small bites to its patrons. Their business developed and grew over the years which brought them to their current location in 2004. Now a full-service restaurant and bar serving an eclectic California menu that specializes in vegan friendly options. Yes, we'll have seconds, please! Capitol Garage is also known for its bottomless mimosas, and weekly "Dinner and Drag" night. Yup, you guessed it...anything goes and the food and drink will back up the entertainment!

With Capitol Garage approaching their 30th anniversary, and undergoing a complete restaurant overall, they were in need of elevating their visual identity from 90's coffee bar to a full-service restaurant known for its entertainment. They also wanted to pay homage to their rich music roots, while being able to attract new clientele that visit the capital district throughout the year. 

Our solution was to design a logomark that puts the garage back in the forefront of the capital district. We were inspired by their beautiful bay doors that invite new clientele, while sharing light with loyal patrons that have loved and revisited over the years. Capitol Garage's new brand identity has a low brow tone that offers a smile with the perfect amount of mischief for any memorable meal. Whether it's with family and friends, or making a happy hour stop with colleagues, Capital Garage's menu and atmosphere will make a lasting impression.
